INKYFINGERS: June 2026 Update I

Hello all! Welcome once again to the Arcanist's Tavern newsletter, lovingly compiled by me, Inkyfingers, your watcher within the walls, your ears on the ground, your... ummm... fingers in... the... um... cheese? As you can tell, I'm a wordsmith and write real good like. Hark my words!

FREE RPG DAY

Saturday 27 June is Free RPG Day and once again, we will be hosting a range of games, as well as the requisite tables full of free goodies from the Free RPG Day 2026 kit. As per previous years, the items will be available on a first-come-first-served, no reservations, 3-per-customer basis.

We will also be holding a number of games, hosted by some of our incredible in-house GMs, and they will be running games that may include, but are not limited to: vampires, eldritch abominations, and possibly even some kind of faery tale monstrosities (I can't guarantee Shrek will make an appearance, but I have my fingers crossed). More info to come, so stay tuned.

AETURNUM II: PROLOGUE LAUNCH

Prologue tickets for our new drop-in D&D5E campaign are now live!

Discover a living world of intrigue, deceit and accursed undeath. This Prologue introduces your character to the Red Isles, and the vampiric apocalypse ravaging it. As the Worldwound above begins to drain the world of all light, trapping those that succumb to it's influence in accursed stone.

As part of this event you will receive your Hunter's Journal - allowing you to track experience, upgrade your equipment and level up across sessions.

Please note that playing this Prologue is required before joining any other Aeturnum games! You do not need to have played our original campaign to join this one, as the story is entirely new and self-contained.

Aeturnum II is an original D&D5E dark fantasy campaign. As a member of the Wayfarer’s guild, you will be tasked with uniting the scattered remnants of the Isles - forging fragile alliances and confronting the curseblood plague that threatens to consume you from the inside…

BLOOD ON THE CLOCKTOWER

The Tavern has been hosting sessions of the hit social deduction game, Blood on the Clocktower, and there has been a call for more complex scripts. And when you call, we listen. There's still a handful of tickets left for our 'Bad Moon Rising' session on Sunday 14 June, so if you've dabbled before and want to try your wits against seasoned players, this one's for you! We'll also be running more of these veterans sessions in the future.

Not played Blood on the Clocktower before, but are keen to give it a go? We also have our Beginner Friendly Evenings, the next being on Sunday 28 June, and a small amount of tickets are still available on our site.

OFF WITH YOUR HEAD

Off With Your Head is a hilarious and unique comedy experience, overseen by Sam See, in which two guest performers try to rule a 12th Century Kingdom, and the audience decide who lives and dies!

This month's rulers are comedians Alex Franklin (BBC New Comedy Award Runner Up, BBC Radio 4) and Posey Mehta (Soho Theatre's resident live comedy D&D actual play, ‘Hot Singles In Your Area Play D&D', Bedford Theatre's online D&D actual play, 'Trisha’s Hideous Queers'). Tickets are now available on our site.

WELCOME, CAVELLE

By now, most visitors to the Tavern will have met Cavelle, one of our newest Tavernkeepers. Say hello, Cavelle!

I’m Cavelle! (pronounced Kha-velle) Born and raised in South East London, I’ve spent my childhood playing card games, board games and video games and losing terribly at all.

I have a Bachelors in Screenwriting and dabbled in the industry pre-covid. I’m still holding onto the pipe dream of creating something; whether that be a video game, book or even a TTRPG.

Slowly I’ve curated my passions into a love for reading, the arts and gaining a long term fixation on Batman, the gothic and any crafty hobby that involves using my hands.

Working at the Tavern seems like a natural culmination of all these hobbies - I’ll try and worm Batman in somewhere - and I’ve loved hearing all our patrons talk about the characters and adventures they’ve had at our various events.

Until next time!

I.
