The 2024 Update.
Apologies for the radio silence. It was an incredibly hectic and stressful few weeks for us over the holiday period, for reasons that we will get into here. We've got a pretty substantial update, so grab a hot drink of your choice and get comfortable!
As many of you are probably aware, we were targeting a December opening window, and had taken staff on-board and trained them up for the big launch.
Unfortunately weeks before construction was due to begin, the contractors we'd been working with stopped answering our calls and became very evasive. Leading us on with vague promises that things would begin 'soon'. Eventually they cut contact entirely, having wasted months of our time and money.
We didn't want to let staff go during the festive period, but were burning through our original budget fast. We realised something drastic needed to happen, so we reached out to the fantastic team at Tandem Set and Scenery, who have worked on some of our favourite immersive experiences.
They immediately understood our vision, and have helped us get back on track. They're now getting to work upstairs on the Apothecary, and we're tackling the Archives and Guild Hall downstairs to get our doors open as soon as possible.
Things are looking very positive, but these past few months have taken a toll. In order to complete the Archives and Guild Hall, we will be turning to Kickstarter to raise additional funding. We'll have more details to share about this next week, so please stay tuned! To show our appreciation we are working on some really cool pledge rewards, such as a cozy backer hoodie and the chance to be immortalized in the Guild Hall!
Realistically, we are hoping to open by the beginning of April, and will share a final opening date as soon as possible.
We understand this isn't the news anyone wanted to see, and are just as disappointed as you by this delay. We've worked all through the holidays to get things moving again, and are so grateful for all the support we have received. We've learnt of things the hard way this past year, but seeing work finally begin on the venue after so long waiting has been a tremendous relief.
To end on a more positive note, Redbeard Woodworks are currently working on our TTRPG tables and they are looking fantastic! With a modular design, built-in dice rollers, drink holders and more power outlets than you could ever fathom- they are going to have everything you need to run some unforgettable adventures. Here’s a quick behind the scenes preview. Make sure to follow them if you’d like to see all the latest updates!
