INKYFINGERS: The Revival
Oh, hello, all. Inkyfingers here. I'm sorry that I've been incommunicado for some time. I could explain why I haven't been able to update you with the latest goings-on in the Arcanist's Tavern for the last... oh dear... 3 months, but then I would need to explain the finer details of interplanar scrivening, which we really don't have time for, let alone the intricacies of the Aethereal Scribe Portal. Instead, let's just carry on as we always have and get into what's been happening, and what is yet to come, within the Tavern walls!
TAVERNKEEPERS
Since I was able to reach you last, we've seen the departure of two wonderful Tavernkeepers, Siân and Alyssa, who have gone to further their careers in visual effects and Japan respectively. We wish them all the very best and thank them for the blood, sweat and tears they've shed in duty to the Tavern.
However, while we've lost two, we have also gained two! Cavelle and Dan have joined us and we thank them in advance for the blood, sweat and tears we will be demanding from them. I aim to provide you with staff profiles as we have with other Tavernkeepers in the past but they are being understandably cagey about the notes I leave for them to find; I need to remember that most people don't like shreds of paper reading 'WHO ARE YOU' fluttering down on them while they're on the toilet.
AETURNUM II: GENESIS
Aeturnum II: Genesis is a special full-day D&D event, introducing the world and setting of our upcoming second campaign! Genesis is a standalone experience, allowing you to play a Level 10 Adrestian champion tasked with leading the ill-fated expedition to slay Tisis' vampiric queen. Your death is certain, but your actions on that fated battlefield will echo throughout the world of Campaign II, shaping the next generation of heroes who rise to fill the ranks of the Wayfarers Guild.
‘The Herald is coming. Fear the night.’
This special has been designed to serve as an introduction to Aeturnum II for both new and returning players. For the best possible experience, we recommend ensuring that you have played in the world of Aeturnum before, or are familiar with the tone and events of the previous Campaign. More information about the world of Aeturnum can be found on our site, at arcaniststavern.uk/aeturnum and our official Discord.
Along with this, we will be releasing a video recap of Campaign One and a new player Primer for Campaign Two shortly. To be notified when these are available, you can follow our socials or join our Discord!
Tickets for Aeturnum II: Genesis are already live, and can be found on our events page.
AETURNUM: THE FINAL CHAPTER
We still have tickets available for our final Campaign I Quest Board rotation before Campaign II launches. Look for the Aeturnum 'Final Chapter' option on our Events page.
PERSONAL HYGIENE
As we approach the warmer months, we would like to request that visitors to the Tavern please be mindful of the Tavernkeepers and other visitors, and maintain a level of personal hygiene that limits the area of effect of their personal odours.
To help with this, we are now stocking goods from Soap & Dragons, a UK-based vendor who creates incredible fantasy-themed soaps, in the shape of potion bottles and gelatinous cubes, among others! We are also stocking their range of scented candles (but you're not allowed to light these within the Tavern walls).
PRICE INCREASES
I have mentioned in a previous email that due to the ever-increasing cost of living, some prices will be increasing throughout the Tavern. Ticket prices, table fees, and many menu items will be affected. This change will likely take place in June.
NEW MENUS
We haven't tinkered with the menu in some time, and we felt it was overdue an overhaul, and as such, we will be introducing some new items, and retiring some old.
ROLLING ZEROS
We’d like to congratulate our friends at Rolling Zeros, whose Invitational has been approved as a qualifying event for the World Championships of Warhammer 2026!
Over the year, all the winners at our competitive Kill Team events secure themselves a bronze ticket to our invitational, along with those with good performance in events overall while flying the RZ flag.
Seems the value of bronze is on the rise, as it can now possibly be exchanged for GOLD!!
TABLETOP INDUSTRY NETWORK
Do you know about our friends, the UK Tabletop Industry Network? They're a group of roleplaying and board game designers, artists and writers from all over the country, and many of their games are available for purchase at the Arcanist's Tavern. If you're working on a game of your own, or merely want to, perhaps they're people you'd want to speak to. If you visit the Tavern on the first Thursday of any month after 7.00pm, they say you might even meet their London contingent in person when they gather at our own bar to network and socialise. Or you can just visit their Discord server (https://discord.gg/XBqwGGW2Xa) and meet them where they live.
TAVERN QUIZ
After the unfortunate cancellation of the April quiz, due to family matters back in Australia, Ringo is champing at the bit to throw a bunch of ridiculous questions at you all again, on the Bank Holiday on 25 May. At the time of writing, a small number of tickets are available through our site, for £3.50, which also gives you access to our board game library to play games before, during and after the quiz. Tickets are also available at the bar on the night, however, we do recommend booking ahead, as we sell out in advance most months. Tickets are also now available for the Tavern Quiz on 29th June.
Ringo would like to let you know that he has been finding solace in books. He says 'Ahh, the Babysitters Club. What a series. Dawn is my favourite, with her California Casual style.'
Until next time!
I.
