INKYFINGERS: December Update I
Hello, all! My name is Inkyfingers, and I think I disassociated momentarily in the last newsletter. Thank you for joining me again for the latest on what's happening at the Arcanist's Tavern. It's a big one this month, so here we go!
RIFT FAIRE - Rift Faire is rapidly approaching! Our one-day TTRPG mini convention will be held on Sunday, 15 December, in our Guild Hall. We'll have independent creators from across the TTRPG scene, including RPG authors, dice makers, illustrators, designers, and woodworkers! The Tavern will also have some second-hand games, books, and other bits and bobs available for purchase upstairs, along with our usual retail offerings.
BLOOD ON THE CLOCKTOWER - Blood on the Clocktower is a baffling, intriguing, chaotic social deduction game in which you play residents of a village whose population is rapidly dwindling. You need to uncover the truth of who's who, before it's too late and the evil forces take over! Come and join us for a beginner-friendly game on Saturday 21st December - get your tickets here.
TAVERN QUIZ - A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our inaugural Tavern Quiz, and congratulations to the Red Shirts who took first place! Join us on Monday 30 December for the next one. Due to the overwhelming response we had in November, we recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time on our site (link below). Ringo has also told me that Martha Wayne was wearing a string of pearls on the night of her murder. What an odd thing to say.
DRAGONMEET - If you were at Dragonmeet this weekend, you may have seen the Tavern owners and founders, Benedikt and Luna, hosting a panel about the trials and tribulations of running a tabletop gaming tavern. We'd like to extend a big Thank You to the organisers of Dragonmeet for inviting us, and anyone who was in the audience!
STAFF PROFILE - Georgia is one of our full-time Tavernkeepers, so if you've ever visited, chances are, you will have met Georgia! Here's what she's all about:
Greetings tis I Georgia! Some of you may already be familiar with me but I’m one of the Tavernkeepers here at the Tavern. I’ve been a self proclaimed nerd all my life. A core memory for me as a child was my Dad showing me all the Star Wars & Lord of the Rings movies with me; He even made me read the books first. About 8 years ago I discovered D&D & thus began my rapid spiral to Dice Gobliness & Forever DM. I’ve dipped in & out of board games for years but my favourites have always been social deduction games, there’s something so lovely about lying through your teeth & pretending to kill your friends. Job-wise I’ve done nearly everything under the sun but my passion has always been for TTRPG’s I love being able to introduce people into this fantastical world & the incredible story-telling that can be told collaboratively as a result. I only moved to London very recently & the incredible Board Game & TTRPG community continues to blow me away. If you’re ever chilling at the bar whilst I’m mixing up a drink feel free to chat about your character & game. I love hearing about everyone’s different takes on the games they're playing & will absolutely get into the nitty gritty mechanics with you!
Fun Fact I actually first contacted Benni & Luna about a year before they opened. I guess the Dice Gods were listening because, here I am now behind the bar ready to whip up a drink, teach a board game, or commiserate with you after your PC met a particularly grizzly death!
Until next time, adventurers!
I.
