INKYFINGERS: January Update I (2025 Edition)
Hello, all! Inkyfingers here again to let you all know what's going on in the Tavern, as we begin a new Gregorian year.
CHECKING IN - A reminder to our regular visitors: please be sure to check in with our Tavernkeepers before heading to your table, even if you know which table you're booked under. This helps us keep track of our capacity and your safety.
AETERNUM QUEST BOARD - The Aeternum Quest Board will be refreshed on Wed 8 Jan, as per Luna's roadmap for Aeternum in 2025. To find out more about this, click here.
AETERNUM PROLOGUE - If you have yet to dip your toes into the world of Aeternum, the Prologue is the place to start. Tickets are now available here.
BLACK ARCHIVES RETURNS - Venture beyond the Astral Corridor once again. Black Archives returns on, stranger than ever, as we begin to explore new TTRPG systems.
Black Archives is a TTRPG story spotlight event, as our house GMs weave tales from across the multiverse. These original stories are self-contained and setting-agnostic, intended for both experienced and newer players. We'll be featuring a variety of indie TTRPG systems alongside our regular D&D5E offerings! Our first session featuring this new format will be on Friday, January 17th.
More info & tickets will be available here.
OLD WORLD EVENT - The Tavern will once again play host to an Old World Narrative event on Saturday 11 Jan. The 'Horrors of Hexensnacht' event will focus on two primary factions: one faction will be made up of mostly Empire, while the other will be Vampire Counts from the Grey Mountains. For further information, click here.
STAFF PROFILE - It feels like Ringo has always been here in the Tavern, his venerable countenance piercing through me as soon as I step foot outside of my hole, watching my every move. I asked him if he could tell me a little bit about himself:
I was born in South Australia, where I lived for several decades, until I moved to London in 2011. I've held many jobs, from librarian to DJ, from proofreader to IT support. 2014 marked my foray into tabletop gaming hospitality, when I formed and ran a regular gaming club called 'Dice Cult' (a name that happily has found new life within the Tavern).
It only makes sense that I would eventually find myself surrounded by analogue games as part of my profession. I've been creating and playing games for as long as I can remember, using bits of other games, toys, and reams of paper my father brought home from work. I would often sit alone in my room, rolling up characters with the First Edition Advanced D&D Player's Handbook, and taking them through whichever adventures I could find, be it B7: Rahasia, O2: Blade of Vengeance, or any number of Fighting Fantasy books (rulesets are merely a suggestion when you're playing by yourself and cheating unabashedly!).
These days, I still create games, with my love of cult films such as Salute of the Jugger and The Lost Boys acting as inspiration, as well as RPGs like D&D5E, Paranoia, Orbital Blues, Deadlands, Monster of the Week, and more.
When I first met Benedikt and Luna, I knew the Tavern was going to be something special, and I'm so proud of what we've achieved together, and will be forever grateful to be part of the team.
Until next time, adventurers!
I.
