INKYFINGERS: August Update I

Hello all! Inkyfingers here. Someone else flossed my teeth today. It was an odd sensation. Here's what's happening in the Arcanist's Tavern!

FREE RPG DAY

We have a date! Free RPG Day will take place on Saturday 22 August! We're still finalising what games we'll have on offer, as the rescheduling has meant some of our GMs are no longer available, however, keep watching this space or our socials for any further announcements.

TAVERN TICKETING

It becomes a bit difficult to let you know of events and ticket drops in a timely manner by way of a (sometimes) biweekly newsletter, so I recommend signing up with our discord or following our Instagram account for up-to-the-minute info.

If you have missed out on getting tickets to one of our events, fear not! There will almost always be another opportunity, as we often repeat our events due to popular demand. Speaking of which, our upcoming Vampire: The Masquerade event sold out in 3 minutes! We'll absolutely be running that again.

USE OF AI IN THE TAVERN

We pride ourselves on the creative and very real human effort it has taken for each of us to lift the Tavern to where it is today, and in turn, supporting and lifting up other creators' efforts. We will never intentionally or knowingly use AI to promote or decorate the Tavern, or in the creation of story elements, character guides, or any other projects. In the past, we have rejected game library donations that contained AI elements, and refused to host events for AI-related products.

Recently, a post made in collaboration with a third party was shared on our Instagram account that contained AI elements. These elements were noted after the fact, and the post was removed. We apologise profusely for not doing our full due diligence and will do everything in our power to prevent it from happening again.

AETURNUM II: AUGUST QUEST BOARD

New quests are available in our drop-in 5.5E world of Aeturnum.

Your journey brings you to the quiet mining town of Silver Ridge. The sun-bleached ghost of a world that never existed, it's restless dead still clinging to the frontier and all it's lawless prospects. They rejected the god-like Nine long before they fell silent, and now find themselves at the end of the world, trading what few bullets remain with the Devil itself.

IT'S YOUR ROLE

On Saturday, 12 September, answer the call and become the hero in a madcap Dungeons & Dragons adventure, as a troupe of professional actors brings a chaotic fantasy world to life! But there’s a twist – one lucky audience member will be cast into the adventuring party live on stage.

Name NPCs, sound magical instruments, or take the leap and join the quest yourself. Direct from performing Off-West End, as well as having recently performed at World's Lair alongside Oxventure and Dark Dice. It's Your Role is a riotous night if improv and fantasy, where the audience shapes the story and you could be the hero who tips the scales of fate and as a very special treat; this show will feature Roll from the Hip's Tom Midgley! Don't miss this chance to play a live game of D&D with the Hexmaster himself!

KICKSTARTER BACKER BOARD

It's finally here for you to see! Built by Redbeard Woodworks, and mounted on the wall in the Guild Hall is our tribute to all of the amazing backers who contributed to our Kickstarter campaign back in February 2024. 

For those who haven't already heard the story, we were originally scheduled to open late 2023. Because of unreliable contractors who didn't deliver, the opening date became amorphous, and we had Tavernkeepers on the payroll but no Tavern. That is, until we discovered the amazing folks from Tandem Set and Scenery, who helped us bring the Tavern from its unsettling white cement origins to the Tavern you see today. We launched the Kickstarter to help us get through those months where we should have been open and seeing some sort of cash flow. And help it did! So we thank you all so much for your donations, and hope to bring you many more years of Taverny goodness.
