INKYFINGERS: September Update I

Hello, all! I know you haven't heard from me in a while - I saw some of the Tavernkeepers taking summer holidays, so I decided I would do the same. I'm not allowed to leave the Tavern though, so I'm not sure any of them noticed.

CALL OF CTHULHU: Starting October 3rd, we will be launching a three-part, beginner-friendly introduction to the world of Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition, which is perfect for anyone who's looking to add some eldritch horror to the best month of the year.

It is late September, 1926. The start of a new school year at Miskatonic University.

A few months ago, Professor Henry Roades took an archaeological expedition from the Miskatonic University to the small settlement of Blackwater Creek in the Miskatonic Valley region of Massachusetts. Most of the expedition has returned; however Professor Roades and his wife, Abigail, are still on site. While Professor Roades has sent a letter to his head of department explaining his absence, concern is growing, especially now the new academic year has begun. The fact that Roades has not answered any subsequent correspondence is not helping. Professor Ernest McTavish, the head of the Department of Archaeology, has asked a few people to go out to Blackwater Creek, make sure that the Henry and Abigail are safe and ensure they return to Arkham as soon as possible.

Character creation and system mechanics will be explained in-session. A set of polyhedral dice, a pencil, and an eraser are recommended!

Tickets are available for the three-part mini arc, running on the following dates:

Friday October 3rd - 6:30PM

Friday October 10th - 6:30PM

Friday October 17th - 6:30PM

DOOMSPIRAL SOUL MUPPET: On Friday 19 September, we are happy to once again host publishers SoulMuppet, with the launch of their most recent Souls-like RPG, Doomspiral!

With the support of The Moonshine Adventure Co and their fantastic team of professional GMs, you'll be taken on an adventure through Saltcrag, a rain-ravaged fortress at the end of the world.

You'll also get to meet the creators and artists of Doomspiral AND get a load of goodies, including a free printed copy of the Doomspiral quickstart and other trinkets from SoulMuppet & Moonshine Adventure Co!

A dark fantasy/souls-like/suffering Forsaken outfit is optional but recommended.

Tickets are £10, grab your spot here! (https://luma.com/vi1iimpw)

OFF WITH THEIR HEAD: In the last update, I mentioned that the special guests for Sam See's cult Fringe hit interactive comedy game show, Off With Your Head, would be announced. In the past, special guests have included No Rolls Barred's Laurie and Blair, Dropout stars Chris Grace, Becca Scott and David Kerns, and New Zealand Taskmaster alumni Ray O'Leary.

While such esteemed talent is nothing to scoff at, we think we've got them all beat - the next Off With Your Head special guests, to be held on Monday 22 September, will be... drum roll... escalating cheering from the audience... feet stomping on the ground... The Tavern's very own Maya and Gilli!!!

You may know Maya, sometimes known as Luna, as the Creative Director and co-founder of the Tavern and creator of all things Aeturnum. Gilli, aka Rebecca Gilliland, is one of the Tavern's Core GMs, as well as a West End actress and singer of note, having played Elphaba in 'Wicked', among many other accomplishments!

Your chance to see them be put outside of their comfort zone is yours if you purchase a ticket through our site.

THE END TIMES ARE UPON US: We have recently updated our policy with regard to the start times for our ticketed events (Aeturnum, Black Archives, Candlekeep, etc). Due to changes to UK licensing law, we need to ensure that customers have completely vacated the Tavern by the end of our licensed hours (10PM most week nights). To accommodate this, evening games will be beginning 30 minutes earlier. This is to ensure that we hit our 10PM finish more consistently, without compromising on session quality or pre-game safety tools.

We still recommend arriving 10 - 15 minutes before the ticketed start time! This change will be reflected in our events page and booking policy beginning in September.

As with all changes, there may be some growing pains as we get accustomed to this new schedule. If you have any questions, feel free to message us at inquiries@alchemygames.uk

TAVERN CLOSURE: Speaking of closing, the Arcanist's Tavern will be closed to the public on Monday 13 October because of secrets. Don't ask.

Until next time!

I.
